STULZ-PLANAQUA GmbH as the leading company in a Joint Venture with a Palestinian construction company has signed a contract to build a biological wastewater treatment plant in the Gaza Strip.

The client, the Palestinian Water Authority, has awarded the contract to STULZ-PLANAQUA GmbH, together with the Palestinian contractor Masoud & Ali Contracting Co.

Various planning agencies under the guidance of the French consulting firm SOGREAH were responsible for the planning of the project, financed by the World Bank and several donor countries.

STULZ-PLANAQUA will build a highly modern, state-of-the-art biological wastewater plant in Gaza. The plant will purify the wastewater of approximately 330,000 people as well as from local industrial and commercial enterprises. The plant is designed for the treatment of approximately 35,000 m³ waste water per day. In addition to the three biological treatment stages, a sludge treatment system and energy generation by a combine heat and power plant (CHP) form part of the plant.

The facility represents a significant contribution to alleviating the environmental situation in Gaza, since a large part of the waste water in Gaza is currently discharged untreated or inadequately purified.

Construction time will last approximately two and a half years. The total cost of the project is about 40 million US$.

STULZ-PLANAQUA GmbH is responsible for the supply and installation of all mechanical and electrical equipment, the training and instruction of future operating staff and the commissioning of the complete plant.
