STULZ-PLANAQUA GmbH signs contract for the extension of a wastewater treatment plant in Istanbul (Turkey)

STULZ-PLANAQUA GmbH has been awarded with the extension and modernization of a wastewater treatment plant at the Asian side of the Turkish metropol city of Istanbul. Within the contract works a thermophile sludge digestion and sludge drying stage will be integrated into the plant.
The digested sludge from 2 × 5,000 cbm reactors will be dried in a drying plant of 100 t/day capacity to 90% DS content and used for industrial application. The drying will be achieved with the biogas generated in the digestion stage.
In addition the biological stage will be re-structured in order to reduce energy costs and odor emissions.
The works will be implemented during operation of the existing facilities and within a tight schedule of six months with subsequent start-up and testing. The project works comply with the relevant EU-standards and environment and discharge standards in Turkey.
The contract value is EUR 6.5 Mio and is financed from energy-efficiency programs for environment technology of Turkey.
