STULZ-PLANAQUA has been awarded the re-construction and extension of a biological wastewater treatment plant in Spain

STULZ-PLANAQUA has been awarded the re-construction and extension of a biological wastewater treatment plant for the Spanish factory Malgrat de Mar, Barcelona of the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany.

These works have been acquired following a successful re-building of the work’s own wastewater treatment plant of Boehringer Ingelheim in Mainz-Ingelheim, Germany a few years ago.

STULZ-PLANAQUA has been appointed to retrofit the plant and to extend its capacity.

The existing biological treatment of a fixed bed biology will be re-build to an activated sludge treatment. An additional treatment train will be installed to double the hydraulic capacity of the plant which will match future requirements.

During the re-construction other process steps will be realized. Among others a precipitation process for reduction of some substances in the inlet of the plant is foreseen as well as the extension of sludge treatment with a filter press.

An odor control unit will be added to the plant.

The works will be realized during the operation of the existing plant. The project with a value of approx. EUR 2 Mio will be completed in 24 months.
